Hi, Brian. Your post regarding the Samsung Q1EX vs. Fujitsu p1610 was fantastic, thank you. I have been using a Motion LS800 for a few years, and now have a Fujitsu p1620, but the 1620 is not near bright enough. I have ordered a Q1EX after reading your article.
Do you know if the Q1EX uses the same extended battery as any other Q1 series? I want to order an extended battery. Also, I will be putting in an SSD drive, so I ordered that.
Lastly, do you know if the airplane power supply is the same for the Q1EX as other Q1 series? Lind Electronics has a power supply for the other Q1 computers, but don’t list the Q1EX.
Thanks for your input!

Scott, I get the impression you are serious about this…
I read somewhere that the Q1EX uses a different extended battery. Accessories for the Q1EX are still hard to come by so you might have to contact Samsung by phone (see their website) or try http://www.samsungparts.com to see if they have that battery available. The good news is that the Q1EX does use the same airplane/auto adapter as the prior models so you can get on (most suppliers do not list the Q1EX yet, its still so new). Thanks again for the kind remarks.
Hi Btian:
Per (bad?) advice from Control Vision I installed Win7 on my Q1EX. Got everything installed only to find non-existent Touchscreen and Wheel drivers. As you well know Samsung is NO help, and these 2 capabilities are key to usefulness. I was wondering if you had found any solutions, drivers, etc that solved this issue. I have exhausted Google with workarounds to no avail. I would really like to have Win7 platform someday.
Any advice or information would be appreciated.
Reinstalling XP now, lol.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I stopped looking for Win7 driver solutions since my last post. I did communicate with Jay at CV (approved his comment so you can see it, relates to screen rotation.) But never found solutions to the tablet and wheel control obstacles. I’ve resigned myself to using WinXP until I decide to change hardware. The Viliv device that CV uses looks interesting, but not enough of a difference for me to try it.
Wish I had better news. At least the AWM package is very stable with WinXP.
